Marco N. Barusco, MD, FISHRS USA

Are you the victim of a botched hair transplant performed illegally by an unlicensed technician – or know someone who is? You could be chosen to receive a pro bono (free) corrective procedure by Dr. Marco Barusco – Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Tempus Hair Restoration – on November 11, 2022 – for the second annual World Hair Transplant Repair Day.

Held by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), this global event is part of the organization’s Fight the FIGHT (Fraudulent, Illicit, and Global Hair Transplants) consumer awareness campaign to educate people about the risks of hair transplant procedures performed by unlicensed technicians.

Unfortunately, an ever-increasing number of clinics around the world promote themselves as hair restoration experts – luring patients with cheap prices and false advertising presented with misleading information – but are operating illegally and fraudulently, without the proper knowledge or training. In many cases, physicians do not perform the surgery and delegate the procedures to unlicensed technicians. The results of this black market practice are often devastating, resulting in visible scarring, infection, thin patches of hair, poor growth, patches of bald spots, and hair depletion from over-harvested donor areas.

Dr. Barusco is among 65 hair restoration surgeons worldwide participating in World Hair Transplant Repair Day. Dr. Barusco is a Fellow of the ISHRS – a distinction that is only given to those who achieve certain landmarks on teaching and leadership. Fewer than 10% of ISHRS members are Fellows.

In the video below, Dr. Barusco explains the reasons behind the proliferation of illicit clinics and non-medical staff members performing hair transplants, the risks (including death) that patients face, the objectives of World Hair Transplant Repair Day, and why he is participating.

If you are living with the results of a botched hair transplant by an illicit clinic or non-medical technician, please complete and submit the form below for the opportunity to be selected for a pro bono corrective procedure by Dr. Barusco. The candidate will be chosen in October for the procedure on November 11, 2022, at our Port Orange, Florida, surgical center.
